Lessons from my Saturn Return
Last month Saturn entered into Pisces starting a new cycle of Saturn returns for a lot of folks. To help folks through their upcoming Saturn return I thought I would share my own personal lessons as well as the astrological significance of one’s Saturn return.
What is the Saturn Return?
Astrology is a long practice of observing and documenting the various cycles and patterns within daily life. One of the most significant astrological events is the Saturn Return, which occurs approximately every 29 years when Saturn makes a full turn around the sun and enters a new sign.
Saturn is one of the larger outer planets that takes the longest to make a full turn around the sun and thus makes its transitions even more monumental.
When is my Saturn Return?
During your Saturn Return, the planet Saturn returns to the same position it occupied at the time of your birth. You can find the expected time of your Saturn return by looking at your birth chart and looking up when Saturn will be in your sign next.
For most people that will happen around the age of 29-30 and again at 58-60. When it returns to its natal position, it marks the end of one cycle and the beginning of another.
What happens during a Saturn Return?
To better understand how your Saturn Return will affect you, you have to understand what areas of life Saturn is responsible for and its role in astrology. Saturn is the planet of discipline, responsibility, and karmic debt. It is also the ruling planet of Capricorn and Aquarius and is associated with the god of agriculture. It is the plant concerned with long-term life choices, careers, and life purpose.
What challenges and opportunities can I expect?
The Saturn Return is often associated with challenges and opportunities related to your long-term planning and life purpose. During this period, you may experience a sense of restlessness, uncertainty, and anxiety about the direction of your life. This can often feel like you are at a crossroads and have the urge to make significant decisions that will shape your future. While this can be a challenging time, it can also be a time of significant personal growth and self-discovery.
Often the changes we lean into during our Saturn Return will have impressive outcomes in the years that follow. Break-ups, divorces, quitting, moving, and having children are all common themes that you will see people make during their Saturn Return.
This is a great time to evaluate past decisions, reevaluate your priorities, and make the necessary adjustments so you can follow your cosmic path. Saturn Return can bring clarity, wisdom, and maturity as well as help you understand your purpose and place in the world.
Lessons from my Saturn Return
Saturn Return can be difficult, so here are some lessons I learned during my Saturn Return that can help you move through it with a bit more ease and assurance:
Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Needing help from others is not a sign of weakness. Some of the biggest growth in your Saturn Return can come from growth with your family and friends when you ask for help.
It’s okay to set boundaries. Boundaries don’t make me a bad person and it doesn’t mean you don’t care about others. Being intentional with your time, space, and energy only helps you align with the person you want to be and set the right expectations for those closest to you in your life.
Let go of anger and move on. You might never get the apology you deserve or the type of relationship you want. Sometimes letting go and moving on is the best thing you can do for yourself. If you do decide to forgive, just remember that forgiving others and forgiving yourself does not betray or diminish your experiences it just let’s you grow into yourself.
Be intentional with your words. Your words carry weight and you should learn to use them well so you can manifest the exact type of life and relationships you want in your life.
Don’t dampen your magic. Live open and honestly and live for yourself.
What do I do next?
The Saturn Return marks a significant turning point in many people’s life. By embracing this period and making conscious choices about your future you can better align with your cosmic path.
